Pick Up a New Cookbook in January
Vegetarian, Vegan, and Plant-Forward cookbooks being released this month
New year, new approach. I’ve been operating my Cookbook Club in much the same way for the past three years. Each month, I chose one cookbook, and used it to meal-plan throughout the month. I would choose a couple recipes each week, and really dive into what each cookbook offered. It allowed me to find my favorites, and develop skills based on how each cookbook author approached food.
You can look at the list now. That’s 36 cookbooks for you to choose from. Thirty-six cookbooks that would be a great addition to any wannabe plant-forward’s kitchen.
But this is a new year. And as I’m shifting my life and my habits around in the coming months, I wanted a new approach to keeping up with great cookbooks.
I have more time than ever to spend in the kitchen. I want cookbooks I can really dig into.
But I hear you. Maybe you don’t have time to spend hours in the kitchen each week. But you still want cookbooks that motivate you. I’ve got you covered.
Yes, I’m on lots of lists that alert me to new cookbooks being published. But I want a list of vegetarian, vegan, and plant-based cookbooks that I can add to my bookshelf. So here it is!
Each month, I plan on selecting a handful of cookbooks that pass my “vegetarian, vegan, plant-forward” test. I’ll list them here. Will I buy them all? Maybe. I might see if some are at my local library to give them a try before I buy.
These are the cookbooks I plan on using in the coming weeks. Yes, some of them might not be published until closer to the end of the month. That’s okay. My goal is to fill my cookbook shelf with a variety of cookbooks to choose from as I head into the kitchen each day.
This month is new - I have a list for you. In the upcoming months, I may include additional write-ups on what I’ve learned and discovered. I may create videos. I may include additional resources. Time will tell!
Want to play along? I’ve done my research, and these are the cookbooks that look intriguing to me this month.
Plant Fuel: 80 Easy and Energising Recipes Packed with Protein and Fibre
Author: Jeffrey Boadi
Publication Date: January 1 2026
I’m paying attention to protein this month. And this book is calling to me because of the wonderfully delicious recipe titles I’ve seen just from the summary. Like Sumac and Lime Lentil Bowl. and a Tofu Massaman Curry. Mmm …
This is a fully plant-based cookbook that focuses on whole-food recipes rich in protein and fiber. I’m new to Jeffrey Boadi’s cooking, but when I saw a review from Gaz Oakley (two of his cookbooks are in my Cookbook Club), I was excited to give this one a try.
Cozy Vegan: 100 Delicious, Plant-Based Comfort Food Recipes
Author: Liz Douglas
Publication Date: January 6 2026
This cookbook is from plant-based influencer and recipe developer Liz Douglas (Glow Diaries). Her blog and podcast are a true delight, and even though this cookbook has been available in her home, Australia, since early 2025, it’s new to us here in the US. I like how she builds her recipes to be approachable. Feel-good plant-based dishes that make comfort food wholesome without sacrificing flavor. Just what we need in January, right? You’ll find hearty mains like “Buttery Chickpeas” and “Cheesy Cauliflower Pot Pie” - mmm. My daughter has always fallen for any plant-based dish with “pot pie” in the title. I’ll definitely be trying this one.
Plant Powered Plus: Activate the Power of Your Gut to Tame Inflammation and Reclaim Your Health
Author: Will Bulsiewicz
Release Date: January 20, 2026
I’ve read Will’s first book, Fiber Fueled, and have worked with the Fiber Fueled Cookbook. So when I saw his newest book was coming out in January, I was excited to dig in. Dr. Will Bulsiewicz is on a mission for gut health. Visit his site or either of his books and you’ll learn a ton about health and how food fits into that process. I’m looking forward to Plant Powered Plus to learn more about the connection between the microbiome, inflammation, energy, digestion, and long-term wellness. It promises to pair up-to-date research with practical strategies for daily eating. We all need that, right? From the publisher: This book is both a guide and a lifestyle blueprint for anyone seeking vibrant, sustainable wellbeing. My favorite kind of book.
Vegan Asian Street Food: Over 80 Plant-Based Recipes for Every Occasion
Authors: Yang Liu & Katharina Pinczolits

This cookbook came onto my radar, and I was instantly intrigued. Who doesn’t love street food? The promise of Vegan Asian Street Food is to bring the bold, vibrant flavors of Asian street markets into the plant-based kitchen. I love books like this because you’ll really be able to punch up your flavors and thoroughly enjoy what you’re cooking! Their Instagram is filled with all kinds of tidbits I’ll be using for years to come. Yes, I LOVE Asian food. So I’m patiently waiting for this book to drop here in the US to give it a try.
